I am Brian Aikens and I love to photograph imaginative people and the wonders of the supernatural place that I call home. My wife Jill is my business partner.

I specialize in collaborating with athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs to create images that capture movement, mood, or a special spark that fits a particular vision. My passion for photography started at a young age and I have been honing my craft ever since. Over the years, I have developed my own unique style that is both creative and expressive. One focus of my photography is wildlife in the Sea to Sky region of British Columbia. The Sea to Sky ranges from UNESCOs Howe Sound Biosphere region, through Whistler and on to Mount Currie.

Squamish is home to one of the largest gathering spots of wintering bald eagles in North America. Depending on the situation, I will go out in camouflage, potentially before the sun comes up so I can be in a chosen place and not move.  I do not want to interfere in an animal’s ability to rest or feed, so I try my best not to call attention to myself.  In the case of wintering eagles, they can see the smallest movement from an incredible distance, and they will change their behavior if they detect a human nearby.  I want to capture their natural behavior, so I want to be as invisible as possible.

As lovers of wildlife and nature, Jill and I would like to contribute to preserving and enhancing natural spaces. Giving part proceeds of our calendar sales to Squamish Environment Society gives us extra incentive to create and promote them.
